In 2017, Nova Flooring was a key partner in the complete refurbishment of the Philharmonic Bar, one of Cardiff’s busiest nightlife venues. Working alongside a dedicated team, we provided comprehensive flooring solutions tailored to the bar’s high-traffic demands. Since the refurbishment, we have continued to maintain the flooring, ensuring the venue remains stylish and durable.

Floor Preparation and Installation
Due to the varying conditions of the subfloors, we applied a range of preparation techniques to ensure a flawless installation. This included the use of self-smoothing compound from F. Ball and the installation of 6mm plywood to level and prepare the subfloors.

For the bar areas, dance floor, and stairs, we installed Karndean Van Gogh gluedown luxury vinyl flooring. This product was chosen for its realistic wood-effect finish and robust durability, making it perfect for high-traffic areas where aesthetics and longevity are equally important.

In the toilet areas, we used Altro Walkway hard-wearing vinyl flooring, providing slip-resistant, low-maintenance flooring ideal for wet areas. Additionally, Altro Whiterock was installed in the kitchen and food preparation areas, offering a hygienic, easy-to-clean surface that meets the strict hygiene standards of commercial kitchens.

Ongoing Maintenance
Since the refurbishment, Nova Flooring has provided continuous maintenance for the Philharmonic, ensuring its flooring remains in excellent condition despite the heavy footfall typical of Cardiff’s nightlife scene. Nova Flooring recently completed a comprehensive flooring project for Blue Bell Bar, a popular venue in Cardiff. This project involved a mix of preparation and installation methods to ensure the bar’s high-traffic areas were fitted with durable, stylish, and low-maintenance flooring.
